K Scholar, Chidiogo Anyigbo, MD, MPH, assistant professor, CCHMC Division of General and Community Pediatrics and her collaborator, Dr. Clare Crosh, appeared on the national "Reach out and Read" podcast, discussing work relating to Dr. Anyigbo's KL2 project.

Drs. Anyigbo and Crosh conducted a study using nationally representative data, which showed that early literacy activities improve school readiness for children, both with and without exposure to adversity. However, for children experiencing adversity, particularly those living in households facing food insecurity and other challenges, these factors can hinder caregivers' ability to engage in activities that create safe, stable, and nurturing environments, which are critical for early childhood development.
