Rhonda Szczesniak, PhD and HEAL-CF Project Team Awarded Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Clinical Research Award

Congratulations to the Health Equity Across the Lifespan (HEAL-CF) project on receiving the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Clinical Research Award for 2024! This team is led by Dr. Rhonda Szczesniak. According to their website, “In 2023 the CF Foundation established the Health Equity Team Science Awards for the first time, providing support for research projects that have the potential to advance health equity. This is part of the Foundation’s commitment to address systemic barriers that lead to health inequities… These awards are given to projects aiming to improve our understanding of or have a positive impact on identified barriers to optimal health outcomes for all people with CF-related to race and ethnicity, sexual orientation or gender, or socioeconomic status.”


HEAL-CF won the clinical research award for their work titled, “Genome-sociome informed risk (G-SIR) prediction tools for enhanced clinical management and promotion of health equity across the lifespan”.


Rhonda Szczesniak, PhD, is a member of the Division of Biostatistics and Epidemiology and a Professor in the UC Department of Pediatrics. She is also a Professor in the UC Departments of Environmental Health and Mathematical Sciences.
