CCTST Grand Rounds on Addressing Maternity Care Deserts and Preterm Birth Rates

Join us for our CCTST October Grand Rounds on Friday, October 18, 2024 from 12:00pm-1:00pm. The presentation is titled, “Addressing Maternity Care Deserts and Preterm Birth Rates: Data-Driven Solutions to Improve Maternal and Infant Health”, and will showcase findings from the 2024 March of Dimes Maternity Care Deserts Report, highlighting that over 35% of U.S. counties lack access to essential maternity care services.

As hospital closures and obstetric clinician shortages increase, maternal and infant mortality rates are rising, especially in rural areas and among vulnerable populations. Attendees will gain an exclusive preview of the upcoming state report cards, which evaluate the key factors driving these issues, focusing on preterm birth rates. Designed to engage trainees, clinical providers, and researchers, this session will deliver powerful data and actionable insights. Free resources such as Peristats from the March of Dimes will also be featured, providing cutting-edge, timely data to improve care delivery and outcomes. Participants will be able to grasp the full scope of the problem and explore practical solutions for reducing health inequities and advancing maternal and infant health nationwide.

Speakers from the March of Dimes include Andrea DeMaria, senior director of applied research and evaluation and Ashley Stoneburner, director of applied research and analytics.

The meeting will be hybrid, both at CCHMC S6.125 and Microsoft Teams. Click here for more information.
